in reply to: Apple Guarantee validity? #20622
So what is the conclusion
Don’t buy an Iphone for use in the wintern months becase if/when the screen crakcs the guarantee aint valid.
According to IF insurance the largest number of claims come from Iphone users.
So for other phones, it seems not to be aproblem but for Iphones, it is a big problem becasue Apple won’t honour the guarantee!
Yes, or no?????
Britin reply to: Apple Shared Secret – What is it? #67220Thanks, TruB.
But maybe Apple’s use of it is the first time many ordinary users will meet it, and it has to be filled in to use VPN under one of the modes, and yet no info about what should be entered there in the manual or on Apple’s site. What “p####s” me off is that large companies such as Apple and Microsoft should provide necessary info so we know what it is referring to .
It’s not my passion to have to spend hours trying to find out.PS Incidentally clicked your xgx link, but seems not to work.
in reply to: Apple Guarantee validity? #67424Well, it’s perhaps not a lie as you quote the figures yourself, or have I misunderstood something?

We should be able to charge them for the time we have to spend. They charge us for calls.
I have handled my bad case with Tele 2 so at least I have everything documented in emails, even when they break documented agreements.Brian

Thanks for help. In my case the problem with dropped lines was before I upgraded to OS4. I upgraded to IOS 4 becasue the so-called experts at Tele 2 told me that would solve the problem. Been gping on 6 months.

I don’t know if you have read the latest news but Tele2 has signed a contract with Apple regarding selling Iphones. Our technical support believes that this will fasten the solution with dropping calls.”Thanks for trying to help.

You’re lucky, the difference is I have Iphone 3 – factory unlocked, and am not having much help with technical at all. They don’t answer.
in reply to: Aug 24 Varning Iphone med Tele2 #101109Smisken
Good someone understood my Swedish. Dropping the line happens when I am speaking to someone, so the only solution is to redial (it does not automatically do this), usually you know the number of the person you are calling so it is not difficult to call back. But if you ring a switchboard e.g. Tele 2 and get to an extension, you don’t know the number and can’t ring back. So what I say is I am using an Iphone with Tele2 and there is a 1 in 4 chance it will drop the line, so could you ring me back (they don’t want to give their number – Tele 2 included) so you are dependent on them doing that. And they don’t do it often.
Reently I had to ring in an emergency a “betaltjänst” 39 kr – and of course it dropped the line, very inconvenient.Frankly I don’t think Tele2 knows what it is doing AT ALL. And my saviour there is becoming fed up with me becasue this problem has been going on months NOW.
I am putting my time into this because I think it is scandalous to have such bad technial support and that we consumeras have to waste our time.
We should be compensated, don’t you think??
Hope this answers at least some of your question. Thanks for the support.
Long live consumers and their rights!

“The problem with dropping calls with Iphone is not a Tele2 specific problem. There a many threads on different respected forums with users that experience the exact same problem that you have presented with Telia and Tre.
There is even a post with a person testing three different operators in the same phone and have the same problem with all operators. This shows that this is not only a problem for certain Tele2 users but also a problem for users using another operator.
Here are some links to different posts I found:

First of all you have to decide who you are upset at, is it Tele2 or iPhone? If its Tele2 then terminate your suscription due to these technical errors and use another carrier that works well on iPhone. All other swedish carriers works fine on iPhone.
If its iPhone try first returning it to Tele2 and get another cellphone, Tele2 has plenty of other smartphones. Since you had these many issues with their carrier I think they would give you another phone at the equal price.
It’s the combination, maybe I’ll try and swap it for 2 Iphone 3GS 16 GB and switch to HTC!

1) I doubt Tele2 will give you anything, If they did it would be phone credits, which doesn’t really serve any purpose right now…=)
2) If the price is right and the darn thing works with Telenor I myself might be interested
3) Pfft! 😛
4) Tele2 is just as likely to be flaky with iPhone 4 as it was with 3G/3GSYup been lazy, watching England’s brilliant performance in the VM!
OK – could imagine selling it 3GS 32 GB – bought in November I think, but no guarantee re Telenor, pristine condition as I got the best protection possible.
What’s a right price? Could also imagine chnaging it for 2 3GS 16 GB for my wife and daughter?

Could this be an iphone issue anyway.. or at least a combination between carrier and harware..Hi bad-baboon (better sex up my own user name!)
Strange as I understood far fewer problems with jail broken phones than factory unlocked. My problems are with Tele 2 – and from the experts here I understand it’s not an Iphone problem per se , but a Tele 2 problem.
britin reply to: Iphone med Tele2 – gemensam kamp för service! #91739Hi Freebo
Yep, received by email – possibly not official – mysterious – is it playing for time? Seems nonsense to me. But most technial support seems that way – though the expertise on this site IMHO is very strong.
I have asked Tele 2 to clraify whose software they are referring to. I will keep posting details in the event this might help someone else.
Maybe it is good that Tele 2 is speaking to Apple?

in reply to: Iphone med Tele2 – gemensam kamp för service! #91731Confirmation of what some of the experts have said as thew reason for dropped lines.
“They have confirmed that the problem is the handover problem between 3G and 2G. There is an ongoing discussion with Apple on how to solve the problem and until that is solved we will continue trouble shooting with them to solve the problem.
The most likely solution will be a software update. “Any comments on what this might mean? In terms of solutions – timewise?
Do you thin they are referring to their own software, or Apple’s?Brit

Surely not…. dropping the line if I have understood you guys correct is not an Apple problem, but in my case a Tele 2 problem, so they might have an interest if they think longer than s/t profits?
Thought background applications was on its way? Or maybe you have inside info, not:confused:

The problem with an app like that would be that you would have to have a jailbroken iPhone to install it. Then you would for sure lose your warranty and support when you send your call logs to your carrier. Sort of catch 22 you might say. 🙂
You mean Apple would not support that? Would improve service and show a genuine interest in improving cust6omer convenience.

Dunno about expert but here goes; if your Tele2 SIM-card works in any other phone, we will only have helped Tele2 verify that their service works with that specific phone. Great stuff but very little in terms of progress for you. You have an iPhone and do not want to switch hardware platform just because their service is sub par.
They have access to the necessary logs themselves through their infrastructure, asking you to log your own issues is only to help them verify their own server logs aaaand to make you sweat a bit. Hearing them say they can not recreate your problem doesn’t come as huge surprise now does it :Even tech idiot me found that approach nonsense, having started there and given them all info so they can trouble shooot, is getting us closer to the truth, right?

Thank you so much. I have tried new SIm with Tele 2(no joy). now getting a SIM from 3Mobil (which I am still paying for but not using ahhh). If the 3Mobil works then I am going to tell Tele2 to sort the wholle problem out and compensate me, it’s their responsibility ( I am no good on these telecom things).
I only got the Iphone because I thought it was the first usable phone. Little did I realise how much time would be wasted). Whetgher its Tele 2 or Apple – I don’t know. Certainly if Apple was less proprietary, and more open these problesm might not exist.
It is also stange that Apple (I think) has been forced to have non-exclsuive agreements in France and Italy, but not in Sweden. But that’s another issue. Law makers in Sweden.
Apologies for ranting, justr frustration, but thank you so much for trying to help me.
So far Tele 2 has not replied, they refer to Datametrix as giving support. And when I spoke to Datametrix aboutr 6 months ago, they said it was Tele 2. The usual loop.

Oh, my God …. it’s not technical facts- but idiosyncratic personalities! I thought these were standardised “commodities” !
I am now going to place a demand on tele 2 that they confirm that the Iphone works as intended with their services, and if not why not. It is ridiculous that users should do test a, b, c etc when perhaps Tele2 knows that the Iphones they7 supply unlocked do not work properly with their services.
The last remaining test I have is to use a SIM card from an operator as you said sometime ago . If that resolves the problem, then it is basic incompatibility with Tele2’s infrastructure.

It was unlocked by 3, and he has a subscription with Tele2 and it works perfectly. And this you say is identical to my situation?
The reason I ask is that small differences might explain beavioural differences.
I also conclude that there is no one in my situation – Tele 2, factory unlocked, where all functions are working 100 correct (i.e. no 3G turned off) – compared to Telia.

Vilken iPhone har du? Fw? Osv..
